GameplayEdit
Might and Magic Heroes Online is different from the core heroes games in several ways. First, instead of being turn based, the overworld is in real time (Battles are still turn based.) Also, enemies guarding stashes of resources respawn after lengths of time so that the resources can be regathered. The game uses the four resources from Might & Magic: Heroes VI: gold, wood, metal, and crystal. Small non-guarded stashes frequently respawn, but guarded stashes are much larger.
There are currently only two playable factions: Haven and Necropolis.
The game's battles revert to the hexes of Heroes III. Also, a new feature allows cooperative battles with other people. Another battle change is a new flanking and backstabbing.
Graphics-wise, the layout of the overworld is much more realistic, meaning cities are actually the size of a city, not of a tiny building. The hero can travel through Nar-Heresh and Falcon's Reach. The story takes place around 800 YSD, with Emperor Duncan Falcon sending the hero to investigate the disappearance of Albin, the Imperial ambassador to the Dwarven lands, and Belketh having the hero trace the source of a prison outbreak, caused by Yorath, which is a part of a much greater conspiracy.

Heroes of Might and Magic Online was a 2.5DMMORPG for the Chinese market and developed by Netdragon.[1] It was part of the Heroes of Might and Magic franchise.[1]
Originally scheduled for release in late 2005,[2] the final release was delayed for three years, and the game launched in May 2008.[1]
The game was free of charge.[3]
Heroes of Might and Magic Online finally went offline on 31 March 2014.[4]
Story[edit]
The background story was set in the same world as Heroes III (most notably the kingdom of Erathia)[3] although Ubisoft—the Might and Magic brand rights licensor—introduced a new universe for the whole Might and Magic series after having acquired the rights from The 3DO Company. The game did not appear to have an actual story, however, and any events that took place in it would not be considered canon.
Features[edit]
Heroes of Might and Magic Online featured four magic systems and allowed the player to choose heroes from eight factions comprising a total of 56 unit types.[3] It was staged on three different levels:
- A global, randomly generated level, where players moved and interacted in a typical MMORPG fashion (in realtime)
- A strategic level, similar to a Heroes III map, where the heroes moved within a certain amount of time
- A turn-based 3D combat level using a tactical grid, similar to the combat mode in Heroes III
English version[edit]
A closed beta test for the English version was held from May 7 to June 9, 2010. Two days later, on June 11, the game went live.
The English version only allowed users with Asian IP addresses to play, since TQ's license from Ubisoft was for Asia only.
